United Soybean Board Offers PR Tools to Cement Reputation as Civic Leader

ST. LOUIS – U.S. soybean farmers want to help food companies and retailers cash in on positive consumer perceptions about biodiesel fuel. According to John Becherer, Chief Executive Officer of the United Soybean Board (USB), “soy-based biodiesel generates a powerful groundswell of popular support due to its major role in protecting human health and the environment, and equally importantly due to its role in decreasing dependence on foreign oil and boosting the U.S. economy.” In fact, a recent poll conducted by USB indicates that three out of four adults would be willing to pay more for biodiesel if available and appropriate in their own vehicle.

USB invites food companies, distributors and retailers to adopt soy-based biodiesel in their centrally-fueled fleets. In addition to offering technical expertise from the National Biodiesel Board, USB will provide the following suite of communications tools to relay this news back to consumers:

* Design templates for truck wraps incorporating positive biodiesel messages and eye-catching taglines for use on the biodiesel-powered trucks themselves;
* Participation in a Video News Release, including footage of fleets on the road and support from NBB and USB on biodiesel’s benefits;
* Inclusion in a new biodiesel page on USB’s Web site (www.talksoy.com) offering a Webcast of the VNR and links to participating companies’ Web sites; and
* A press release dedicated to each company’s decision to convert fleets to biodiesel, followed up with personal calls to business and environmental reporters at the top daily newspapers.

Biodiesel offers competitive price, reliable domestic supply, added lubricity resulting in extended engine life, compliance with federal regulations and buffer from volatile petroleum prices. Now, it can also build greater consumer loyalty. To learn more, please contact Diana Steeble by telephone at (206) 270-4637 or by e-mail at diana.steeble@publicis-usa.com.
